Thanks to you bringing me on board, on Day One, I learned how to POWER UP (vs turn on the computer)! Then I learned about INDIA! You helped me power up my computer skills (had to) and my fascination with India (pdg idea). In return you got a very bright assistant and an occasional mis-paged repro (“The ladies upstairs never mis-page…”) Thanks to you, I discovered Alan Turing, Jacob Jacoby, and the mysteries of computing which only someone like Vinod could ever have understood. Remember Vinod?: “Go ask him if he needs funding again this semester.” Was there ever a question? He did, for at least 23 semesters… I was there when Olaf’s Junior NM Chess tournament winner 10 year old lost/was crushed by losing to one of those sleazy Masters in front of Au Bon Pain. Remember slurping through Haymarket one hot July morning to produce a lobster supper for Joe? I still have the grey linen dress Gita asked if I’d charged to DARPA when they came for an important site visit. And I could go on and on, but won’t, beyond saying that you were a seminal force in my life when my psyche was alive to the challenge and I was open to wide open spaces. Many thanks, to you, Gita and the boys. The Mittals made for a rich and rewarding five years. With love, Natalie
